My first ever writers conference

My first ever writers conference

I was channeling ‘A Goofy Movie’, and standing out above the crowd, during my first writers conference. When the class was over, the participants asked me, “What did you learn?”.

I was appalled, thinking “what the hell? They're asking me”, but I pulled out my notes and let the participants read them. That way we could have an intelligent conversation, lol!
After reviewing my notes, the participants looked at me, right in my face and said some things using Friday night language that I don't understand. Now, I'm using Friday night language to get me out of this situation. “Teacher!!!”.
I continued with my day, seeing my Grandmaw, picking up my Minime, and making dinner plans when I finally got the message. It was like it was downloading, and I couldn't access the file until the download was complete. Anyhoo, I feel like the participants had a right to tell me how they felt about a particular piece of writing. Not everyone has the same interpretation as me. I feel like I could have been more empathetic of the participants response to the situation and it really was a learning opportunity, but I'm not the teacher, *Friday night language!*
So in conclusion, I was channeling ‘A Goofy Movie’, and standing out above the crowd, during my first writers conference. When the class was over, the participants asked me, “What did you learn?”.
